| Wining awards in the most prestigious international competitive tastings the FIne Wines of the Douro reflect the new dynamism of the company. In 1996, a long-range plan was developed to study all aspects of wine production. From vineyard cultivation practices to grape selection for specific wines to winemaking practices a totally new team of viticulturists and winemakers assumed the task of creating a Fine Wine Division. | |||||||||||||
| New plantings, innovative cultural methods and radically
altered standards of harvest criteria were the first step. Up to date winemaking
practices adapted from the New and the Old World produced wines of the complex
fruit and depth necessary for ageing in small new oak barrel. The combination
of these two factors, rigorously practised, is the bassis of the sucess of Real
